About the Aquatic Center

Our Mission

To provide high quality boating and safety programs through education, recreation and competition.

Introduction

The Sacramento State Aquatic Center is a cooperative operation of the Associated Students Inc. of California State University, Sacramento, the University Union of Sac State, California Department of Boating and Waterways, and the California Department of Parks and Recreation. The center was established in 1981 and has provided instruction to thousands of students. The center offers university kinesiology classes, leisure classes for the general public, competitive teams, and a series of progressive summer camps and youth programs. The center was established to augment the academic curriculum at Sacramento State. The Aquatic Center is open to students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Sac State as well as the general public. All students, faculty, staff, and alumni

of Sac State receive a discount with their Sac State identification card. Our facility occupies eight acres of land and is one of the finest in the state. Features include: beach area, picnic tables, barbeques, four docks, classrooms, and convenient parking.

The Aquatic Center is a regional boating instruction safety center as part of a program funded by the California Department of Boating and Waterways. The Department of Boating and Waterways funds boating facilities, boating safety education, and supports boating law enforcement in California. A portion of the equipment at the center is provided by the department to enhance boating safety education in California.

This award recognizes organizations that have developed and successfully implemented programs that:

  3. Create a closer partnership between national, state and local boating education organizations
  4. Promote the theme of the National Safe Boating Campaign

Community Support

As the Aquatic Center begins its 25th year of operation, it has been the cooperative effort of California State University, Sacramento, Associated Students Inc., The University Union, California Department of Boating and Waterways, California Department of Parks and Recreation, Bureau of Reclamation, and the Community that has made us a nationally recognized facility.

It is our mission to provide the highest quality boating instruction through education, recreation, and competition. In that pursuit of excellence, we solicit your continued support. There are numerous opportunities for individuals, families, small businesses, and corporations to get involved. With the completion of Phase I of the Aquatic Center renovation, there are individual training room and building naming opportunities. Seize the opportunity to leave a legacy, name a building, training room, or a complex.

The success of the Aquatic Center is directly attributed to the numerous donations both financially and gifts-in-kind we have received. With your continued support together we will continue to provide experiences we know you will enjoy.
